Nashville Police Identify 16-Year-Old Killed in Fiery Blue Hole Road Crash

The driver killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday on Blue Hole Road has been identified as 16-year-old Diego Perez Lopez.

The passenger who also died in the crash has not yet been identified, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Two Southeast Precinct officers saw a black Infiniti sedan traveling at a high rate of speed around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle ran a red light at Blue Hole Road and Bell Road, but officers were unable to stop it.

The Infiniti was later found overturned in a wooded area near the Antioch Park Community Center and engulfed in flames. Nashville Fire Department crews extinguished the fire and found two deceased individuals inside the vehicle.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Infiniti crested a hill and lost control before crossing the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic. The sedan then left the roadway, struck a tree and came to rest upside down in the woods, where it caught fire.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will assist with identifying the passenger. Investigators were unable to determine the Infiniti’s ownership at the scene because of damage from the fire.
